Scribble & Ink
Holidays bring the stress of all those unfinished "honey do" lists for interior and exterior chores. But they are also a great motivator !
There are so many ways to mask what you see as a flaw and others will completely ignore:
-Make sure the leaves are out of the front beds and your perennials are cut back and shrubs are tidy-pruned.
-Paint the front door ! Nothing is more eye-catching than an interesting color !
-Holiday pillows and throws can mask the dingy sofa or chairs. If lampshades are really old replace them with crisp new ones - easy and very inexpensive. (you weren't even thinking about that were you?)
-If the curtains are awful take them down ! The more contemporary take on window treatments is often to just eliminate them. Unless you are glaring into the neighbor's windows or onto the street take them down !
-Take all the everyday clutter out of the bathroom. A scented candle and clean counter with a holiday hand towel goes a long way. Make sure everything is spic and span (my secret for shiny fixtures - use coffee pot cleaner on a dry paper towel and rub on the faucet/shower fixtures - like new ! )
-De-clutter the kitchen as well. Take all those appliances off the counters. A glass bowl of shiny ornaments and a vase of fresh greens will bring the holidays in and make the room smell wonderful.
